Important information about your open-cockpit flight with Florida Biplanes:
•
You can upgrade to a longer flight, but we must know when you call to schedule your flight (not when you arrive for the flight). You can add an Aerobatics upgrade to any scenic ride any time prior to departure.
•
Please try to schedule your flight at least a day or two in advance, and eariler for weekend appointments and around rocket launches, festivals, and other events.
•
Arrive at the airport no later then 15-25 minutes prior to your scheduled flight time.
• Aerobatics require the use of parachutes (FAA requirement).
What happens if the weather is bad on the day I want to fly?
If on the day and time you have your flight scheduled the weather is not suitable to fly (could be too cold, too wet, too cloudy, too windy, or just perfect...we will not waste your money), we will call you as soon as possible on the telephone numbers you have provided for us, (it could be the day before or more likely the day of) and reschedule your flight.
Taking your ride.
We fly year-round most days of the week. In Winter months, the Waco is comfortable, as it has some heat and wind protection. You should dress as if taking a ride in a convertible or motorcycle. With temps of 65-75F, a light jacket is sufficient. At 55-65F, a heavy jacket or coat will work. Below 50 F, we may reschedule your flight. On your ride you will get a gentle, level ride. If you want to get an introduction to flying upside down, you can upgrade your scenic ride to include our “Light-Aerobatics”. Loops, rolls and other aerobatic maneuvers are FAA prohibited unless prearranged before takeoff. How about flying the airplane? If you have booked your ride as a single passenger YOU can “fly” if you desire. We can give you a mini-lesson and most folks can be flying the aircraft within a few minutes.
Scheduling.
Please schedule your ride as far in advance as possible by calling (321) 392-4125 or 888-FOR-RIDE to allow for the best selection of times. Weekend reservations are often tightly booked, so schedule at least a week or two in advance. On weekdays, we can usually handle your request on shorter notice. We require a credit card deposit of $50 to hold a reservation (unless redeeming a Gift Certificate). This deposit is fully refundable if you need to cancel more than 24 hours prior to your flight. You can change your scenic ride to a different length but this should be done at the time you schedule. Your pilot has the authority to cancel, change, or shorten a flight due to weather or other variables. If we cancel your flight due to inclement weather (at the sole discretion of Florida Biplanes, Inc.) you may reschedule. Cancellations: There is no charge for reservations canceled at least 24 hours in advance. However, once booked, any reservation canceled with less than 24 hours of the scheduled ride will be charged the $50 deposit per flight and all reservations canceled on the same day of the scheduled flight will be charged the full amount of the ride(s) -this includes No Shows and also Gift Certificate Redeemers. Our flights are tightly booked. If you arrive late (plan to arrive 15-25 minutes before your scheduled flight time), that amount of time may be deducted from your flight. Gift Certificates can be refunded within 15 days from purchase date and have a 12-month expiration date. The value of any Gift Certificate is $0.00 after the expiration date. There is a $15 service fee for all Gift Certificate refunds.
In-flight Photos & Videos.
We have an externally-mounted mega-pixel video camera that allows for awesome in-flight High Definition Video movie of YOU and a wide-angle background view, taken during your ride. The movie cost is very reasonable and a great way to capture your memories. You can also bring your own camera. Panoramic one-use cameras are perfect. Wide-angle lenses work best and the smaller camcorders are allowed, as well.
